On All Hallow's Eve, there's no telling what will haunt the Dark Knight。

This haunting collection contains the tales of three Halloweens—Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special #1, Batman: Madness - A Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special#1, and Batman: Ghosts, A Legends of the Dark。。。 #1。

One Halloween during Batman's early years, the Scarecrow is on the prowl in Gotham City, forcing the Dark Knight into a furiously frightful game of cat and mouse。

In another, all Hallows Eve has come ’round again。。。and the Dark Knight of Gotham City has a midnight appointment with terror when he faces the twisted genius of the Mad Hatter!

And in yet another, Bruce Wayne’s tortured sleep is violated by four specters: the spirit of his murdered father, the Ghost of Halloween Past, the Ghost of Halloween Present and a mysterious Ghost of Halloween Future。 But what do they want of the Dark Knight?

Tim Sale's art is so much fun, it helps the atmosphere so much when he leans into the more cartoony and extreme designs。 He's such a good pick for these fantastic spooky vibes。 Although a lot of this is more rough than what his work would be in Long Halloween and Dark Victory。Jeph Loeb also has a great understanding of the characters。 I enjoyed that despite the length he was able to bring in kinda complicated dynamics like Bruce having a love life, or Gordon adopting Barbara。 Tim Sale's art is so much fun, it helps the atmosphere so much when he leans into the more cartoony and extreme designs。 He's such a good pick for these fantastic spooky vibes。 Although a lot of this is more rough than what his work would be in Long Halloween and Dark Victory。Jeph Loeb also has a great understanding of the characters。 I enjoyed that despite the length he was able to bring in kinda complicated dynamics like Bruce having a love life, or Gordon adopting Barbara。 。。。more

4⭐️ It was good。 Personally my favourite part of this is the art work。 Tim Sale is a amazing and is my personal favourite artist。 So he always makes it a beautiful read。 But the story is also good。 Their isn’t much time to develop the story because they are all just short story’s but it is really good。 I completed this book in one sitting but forgot to put completed on Goodreads。 Overall this graphic novel is great。 I recommend if you like Batman long Halloween。

The stories are a bit predictable and uninspired, but not enough to distract from Tim Sale's magnificent artwork。 The stories are a bit predictable and uninspired, but not enough to distract from Tim Sale's magnificent artwork。 。。。more

Batman: Haunted Knights collects 3 Halloween Specials of Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight (Fears, Madness, and Ghosts) written by Jeph Loeb with art by Tim SaleIn Haunted Knight we get three stand alone comics。 In Fears, Batman hunts The Scarecrow who is blowing up power station across Gotham City。 In Madness, Batman is in search of the Mad Hatter who has kidnapped a group of children including Barbara Gordon。 Finally in Ghosts, Batman is visited by the spirits of the past, present, and future Batman: Haunted Knights collects 3 Halloween Specials of Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight (Fears, Madness, and Ghosts) written by Jeph Loeb with art by Tim SaleIn Haunted Knight we get three stand alone comics。 In Fears, Batman hunts The Scarecrow who is blowing up power station across Gotham City。 In Madness, Batman is in search of the Mad Hatter who has kidnapped a group of children including Barbara Gordon。 Finally in Ghosts, Batman is visited by the spirits of the past, present, and future。 I haven’t read these issues since probably 2006 and man were they a great revisit。 When I originally read them, I didn’t realize they were part of the fabulous 90s Legends of the Dark Knight series。 I remember getting random LotDK issues in middle school and feeling really cool to be able to read this dark and brooding series。 That is a series DC desperately needs to reprint。 This series was Loeb and Sale’s first work on Batman which proved so popular that they went on to create the masterpieces that are The Long Halloween (The BEST Batman book。 Fight me。), it’s sequel Dark Victory, and spin-off Catwoman: When In Rome。 You can tell the early genius that is at work here with the two creators making a unique world for the Dark Knight。 Sale’s art is beautiful as always and will always be how I envision Batman。 It was such a great pleasure to revisit this series with the rerelease of Haunted Knight in an oversized, hardcover addition。 It’s hard to believe Sale’s art could look even better but they did it。 These reprinting of Loeb and Sale’s Batman works should be in every Batman fan’s collection。 。。。more

Visually stunning。 Scarecrow and the Mad Hatter are two of my favorite Batman villains。 And what's not to like about a Batman-themed Halloween retelling of A Christmas Carol? [3。6]A collection of really solid Batman stories。 The art is just decent, and the stories pretty standard。 But they are well written and the pacing is really good。 Found myself reading for long periods and wanting to turn just one more page before putting it down, over and over。

Scarecrow story is fine。 Mad Hatter story is surprisingly dark and great。 Christmas Carol story is rushed and bad。 Tim Sale's art of course delivers throughout though。 Scarecrow story is fine。 Mad Hatter story is surprisingly dark and great。 Christmas Carol story is rushed and bad。 Tim Sale's art of course delivers throughout though。 。。。more

Really great book that I don’t hear get talked about too often。 I really think this could be a perfect structure for a starter Batman trilogy, a 2nd arc in a Batman show, or a video game。 Seeing Batman trying to be a better hero by realizing his responsibilities, overcoming his trauma, and realizing his mistakes is really cool and I’d love to see。 Also the art was perfect。Low 9。8

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Haunted knight is about showing bruce's past, wether its the bad ones or the good ones, its also about bruce trying to face his fear, even though the stories are fine on its own, it lacks the horror, it does not show how violent and crazy batman rogues could be, its just a typical regular batman comic, also tim sale arts are even worse in this book, overall a normal book, is it worth the time to read? probably not, but you definitely should read it if you are a Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's fan。 Haunted knight is about showing bruce's past, wether its the bad ones or the good ones, its also about bruce trying to face his fear, even though the stories are fine on its own, it lacks the horror, it does not show how violent and crazy batman rogues could be, its just a typical regular batman comic, also tim sale arts are even worse in this book, overall a normal book, is it worth the time to read? probably not, but you definitely should read it if you are a Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's fan。 。。。more

Batman meets A Christmas Carol in this highly original and dark comic by Jeph Loeb and the late great Tim Sale。 The villains get darker every year, and haunt Batman in his sleep。 Or is this real。。。?

Comics rarely ever give themselves enough time to really tell a succinct, complete story。 I'd say that it is because they are so short but that's not true。 I'm sure you could fit a story in one of them。 Unfortunately graphic novels are typically made up of serials of comics and so it can make for uneven reading。This book however has three distinct comics so it has three chances to get something across。 It doesn't really do it for me。 I don't particularly care for the syle of the artwork。 It's a Comics rarely ever give themselves enough time to really tell a succinct, complete story。 I'd say that it is because they are so short but that's not true。 I'm sure you could fit a story in one of them。 Unfortunately graphic novels are typically made up of serials of comics and so it can make for uneven reading。This book however has three distinct comics so it has three chances to get something across。 It doesn't really do it for me。 I don't particularly care for the syle of the artwork。 It's a little ridiculous to have batman and villains constantly burst through glass ceilings and windows and be completely fine。 Also the villains should not have been able to take such a beating from Batman。 The final story sets itself up as a dream, and that's not a spoiler because it obviously is one and tells you so in the story。 What's weird is a Halloween story decided to do a whole Christmas ghosts of the past, present, and future which I didn't care for。 Especially a dream with no stakes was disappointing。 Anyway, I'd skip it。 。。。more

Fears: 4 starsReally good Scarecrow story with a lot of great moments。 I am not the biggest fan of how Loeb writes Crane as his nursery rhymes can get annoying at times。 Doesn't take much away from the great Halloween caper, but It is the weakest of the three specials。 Delves into Bruce's psyche in an interesting way showing off some of his deepest fears。 At least unlike some people, Loeb doesn't write Scarecrow as a gimmick villain that just conjures up spiders。Madness: 5 starsMy favorite of th Fears: 4 starsReally good Scarecrow story with a lot of great moments。 I am not the biggest fan of how Loeb writes Crane as his nursery rhymes can get annoying at times。 Doesn't take much away from the great Halloween caper, but It is the weakest of the three specials。 Delves into Bruce's psyche in an interesting way showing off some of his deepest fears。 At least unlike some people, Loeb doesn't write Scarecrow as a gimmick villain that just conjures up spiders。Madness: 5 starsMy favorite of the three, I always think Mad Hatter is an underrated villain and this story is everything you'd want from a Hatter tale, Loony but disturbing。 Lots of great character moments with Leslie and particularly Barbara and Jim Gordon get well-deserved scenes。 Sure, the Hatter's plot isnt a big one in this but it doesn't need to be。 Its more of a contained character driven story。Ghosts: 5 starsBatman learns the true meaning of the halloween spirit。All joking aside, actually a great book with very good development for early career Bruce Wayne。 You also get introduced to Lucious Fox here, and I am a big fan of how Loeb writes ol' Pengy。Overall: 5 starsThe art by sale is obviously great, really good artist, super interesting color use, fantastically imaginative panel layouts, visually this book couldn't be better。 I really like that this book serves as a great introduction to Pre-Batgirl Barbara, Leslie and Lucious, characters I think are heavily overlooked sometimes。 A collection of easily-digestible stories you can read without any knowledge about the universe and would serve as a great introductory to Batman and/or Comics as a whole。 。。。more

this book is absolutely amazing and I like the reviews。

These stories are fun but far from the greatness Loeb would achieve in The Long Halloween and Dark Victory。 I’d say they’re barely above serviceable but that’s all they needed to be when paired with Tim Sale’s art。 His gothic Gotham seems straight out of the ‘89 movie and his designs for villains is some of the best ever。 I still can’t believe he left us so young 🥺

Sarah

Rather surprisingly I loved this。 I’m not a fan of loeb’s and I’m not much for Sale’s artwork。 However, even though this isn’t terribly deep or long, it reminded me of how much I liked the more cartoonish Batman with a message。

Recopila tres especiales de Halloween de Jeph Loeb y Tim Sale, en los que Batman se enfrenta a varios villanos clásicos。 Cómics entretenidos。

Zach

Very cool to see how well Batman syncs up with Lewis Carrol, Charles Dickens and just a hint of Edgar Allen Poe。 Complete with a fantastic 90s art style。 A good read for fans。
